GacoFlex S4200 is a professional-grade, high-adhesion 100% silicone roof coating designed to restore, waterproof and extend the service life of weathered flat and low-pitched roofing systems.
The advanced solvent-free, single-component formulation cures to form a seamless, flexible and weather-tight elastomeric membrane that protects the existing roof from UV exposure, rain, standing water and normal weathering. Unlike many conventional roof coatings, GacoFlex S4200 is specifically designed to withstand permanent ponding water, helping prevent the coating from softening, bubbling or degrading where water remains on the roof surface.
GacoFlex S4200 offers excellent adhesion and, on many suitable substrates, can be applied without a separate primer, helping reduce both labour and material requirements. An adhesion test should always be carried out before application to confirm compatibility. Certain substrates, including some single-ply membranes and asphalt-based roofs, may require additional preparation or a specialist primer/base coat.
The coating is particularly suited to the refurbishment of metal roofing, weathered single-ply membranes, polyurethane foam roofing systems and aged SBS, APP and built-up roofing membranes. It can also be applied to concrete and existing elastomeric coatings when used with the appropriate GacoFlex primer.
GacoFlex S4200 provides excellent coverage compared with many traditional silicone coating systems. Gaco specifies an application rate of approximately 1.25 gallons per 100 sq ft, equivalent to around 4.7 litres per 9.3m², producing approximately 20 mil wet-film thickness and 18 mil dry-film thickness. This gives an approximate theoretical coverage of 14.8m² from an 18.9L tin, although rough, porous or uneven surfaces may require additional material.
Once cured, the coating creates a durable, highly flexible membrane with excellent resistance to weathering. GacoFlex S4200 White has approximately 95% solids by volume and 96.5% solids by weight, providing a high-build protective coating with minimal solvent content and a VOC level below 50g/L.
The white finish also provides excellent solar reflectivity, helping reflect solar energy away from the roof surface and reduce heat build-up. Gaco lists an initial solar reflectance of approximately 0.87 for S4200 White.
Ideal for roof refurbishment and preventative maintenance projects, GacoFlex S4200 offers a practical alternative to complete roof replacement by creating a seamless silicone waterproofing membrane directly over suitable existing roof coverings.
